2010: Becoming parents for the first time

In August 2010 coming back from a summer holiday, Shelley Ann felt sick and we first thought that she had food poisoning. After she was admitted to the hospital for tests, we were told that she was expecting our first child. Suddenly I was overwhelmed with an overjoy of  emotions and feelings that I never felt before. My priorities had changed. I thought that it’s time to place the South African chapter behind me, I had done more than enough to help the victims of human rights violations in South Africa by the Cato Manor unit at a great cost to me and Shelley Ann, and it was time to focus on my future family as well as rebuilding my life in exile.
