1997: Becoming friends with Johan Booysen

I met a senior police officer, Johan Booysen, the commander of the Apartheid notorious police, Durban murder and robbery unit in KwaZulu-Natal, in my store. He arrived with Captain Willie Olivier in order to purchase a new computer for his (Booysen’s) family.

More about Booysen and his unit of terror can be read here, as described in 2022, by pioneer Human rights activist  and researcher in South Africa, Dr. Mary De Haas.

I was asked to deliver the computer to Booysen’s home in Amanzimtoti, a small town just south of Durban and install it as well as provide some lessons to the family as to how to use it.

Booysen showed an interest in socialising with me when he met me and he realised that I was from Greece. He further expressed his interest to travel to Europe with his family as he had never been out of the country before. That happened in 2001 when I took Booysen and his family to Europe as well as Greece, where I provided free accommodation at my family’s properties.
